Additional MVDC Tasks ñ the Swampworks Program

The ESRDC team will use the early-stage-ship-design cloud computing environment that the team has launched to ensureeffective collaboration among the organizations and to facilitate Navy participation and visibility for the activity. It isimportant that current ESRDC research and development activities continue in parallel.This investigation focuses on a specific near-term set of solutions for advanced power systems in a DDG51 hull. ESRDCwill advance credible arguments for the benefits and shortfalls of each of the IPS architectures based on the selectedtopology and the voltage classes needed to serve the loads. The arguments will be based on the electrical IPS responses,the thermal responses and the control system requirements. ESRDC will also help in the development of the design toolsand models for inclusion in the separately funded cloud computational environment, and will evaluate the results obtainedusing the tools and models.This activity is an excellent
