COMMUNITY-BASED DECISION-MAKING
MIT Sea Grant brings together public agencies and stakeholders in an effective adaptation and management planning process. We inform communities, the aquaculture industry, and state, federal and local management authorities regarding impacts to local communities, coastal resources, and economies.
Coastal development and increased coastal erosion has brought runoff, sedimentation, nutrients, contaminants, and degradation of habitats. We apply cutting-edge technology and research in the areas of coastal hazards, hurricane forecasting, energy, climate change, ocean acidification, stormwater management, and tourism.
WEATHER-READY NATION
MIT Sea Grant is a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recognizes partners who are improving the nation’s readiness, responsiveness, and overall resilience against extreme weather, water, and climate events.
We equip coastal communities and constituents to plan, adapt, and recover by linking conservation, culture, and commerce.
