She received her SB in ocean engineering from MIT, her MSc in maritime archaeology from the University of Southampton, and PhD from the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. Katy is also a National Geographic Emerging Explorer and MIT Media Lab Director’s Fellow.
